Don’t read on if you are a vegetarian.


It looked so funny. The cow was just standing there, seemingly completely oblivious. Without a “Muuuah” or any sign of life she was staring at the approaching Land-Cruiser. We changed lanes in order not to make any contact with this rather stupid animal. The surface which is called “calzada” down here was wet.  Very wet.


We came closer. 20 meters. No reaction from the cow. 10 meters. Still no movement. 5 meters. Oups. The cow started to run. On the spot. It seemed a) to have no traction at all or b) pretend to be a cartoon animal.


I laughed. It was indeed a very funny picture. In informed my travelling friends Kristy and Rich that we might indeed make contact with a cow and meantime hit the breaks.


SKRIEEEEEEEEEEEETSCH! The cow, which would have been safe by staying oblivious to the world and any car approaching her, now had gained some traction. She or he or whatever seemed to want some closer contact with the 3300kg Land-Cruiser.


When we hit her/him/it we had slowed down to about 20km/h. I saw furry legs in the sky. Then the cow did a commando role and was back on her legs with a bright smile. Seemingly an adventurous cow.
