Timetable PanMundo journey (PDF)

Welcome to the most remote camping site I have ever seen! 70 kilometres of from the public road, hidden in a huge forest, surrounded by the beautiful Lake Missinaibi (Ontario).
After arriving I did not even have time to put up the tent – fresh fish was waiting. My camping neighbour Rob Mahy was a jovial fellow and offered me some grilled fish right out of the lake. Later, Mark, my other neighbour, came over with some excellent fish soup (this time I did not forget the name of that soup: a Louisiana Style Fish Soup called jambalaya) and more tasting grilled fish. So, I basically had dinner twice. Which was good: the next morning I went out early with Rob’s canoe and since paddling was quite intense when the wind was freshening up in my direction, I could make use of the additional energy.
Of course there are many bears! Most of them are painted on signs warning you of the lethal danger when leaving food outside the car. The rest you can find hung on a wall, looking kind of dead. So far, the wild-life
kept away from me. Still no moose and not even a small bear. Boring…
A real Canadian camping evening means loads of beer, sitting around a fire and do some straight talking. This is what I like up here – people have both feet on the ground. However, the distances seem to be endless and since there is some police around (I got a warning for speeding (26km/h too fast) from a friendly police officer) I better keep going slowly. That means I have to say good-bye to this fabulous place and its great folks. So long!
